Richard Murrey

I began painting/drawing in high school, and it carried over into college at Western Kentucky University, in Bowling Green, Kentucky as a printmaking / astronomy major. After college I worked in the graphics department at the local T.V. station. I was called up by the Department of Defense to do illustrations for military training manuals during the Vietnam conflict. After that contract was over, I was divorced, and I decided to travel out west. I settled in Bishop, California finding work for an architectural designer and a natural food provider. During this time, I began writing my own songs and performing them out combining showing my art along with my songs to test their audience response. It was a wonderful experience that made me realize that I should concentrate on both art and creating music from my heart. After 7 years in Bishop, I moved back to Florida to freelance work as an illustrator and graphic designer for all the major agencies in Orlando and 2 major national clip art suppliers. What began as a freelance graphics job at Disney World working on concepts for EPCOT, then a few years at Sea World, promoting the first Baby Shamu. After Sea World I found a position as a graphic artist for NASA during the shuttle program and retired after 13 years of fantastic experiences and great art! I still paint and produce and probably will until I can’t!
