ARAKI By Nobuyoshi Araki | Photography Book Recommendation

Wild Flowers & Japanese Female’s Genitalia

I think raw and wild would be my description for ARAKI. This massive luxury book embraced by its own box is about Asian women’s genitalia. ARAKI is full of raw photographs of Japanese bondage alongside street photography depicting Japan’s daily life.  The artsy sexual stories are wild and full of frontal nudity.  Complete shock from the usual Japanese female personal we are accustomed to see. Throughout the book there are sections of exotic flowers, intimate settings, sex acts and roped Asian women. A must have for males and females with a flare for bondage and Asian women.

ABOUT

The NO MIDDLEMAN ART GALLERY is designed to connect art seekers and collectors with artists DIRECTLY.  The gallery is not a mall, but instead a collection of remarkable works of art that bring together artists and potential buyers.

OUR CONCEPT

Written By Joelcy Kay – Curator

Every piece of art, crafts, or textiles, hanging on my walls or ceiling tells a tiny passage of my life.  Most of it was acquired during my travels.  Many of these treasures are damaged whether because they were broken on arrival, as the pieces were tightly stuffed into my backpack, or weathered by the unforgiving Florida tropical humidity.  But in the end, they are my precious processions and they are part of the stories I tell.  It feels good to have rugs hanging from the ceiling, masks on the walls, and drinking my morning coffee thinking of the mugs’ tale.  The point here is that art has a lot to offer each one of us; ART IS VERY PERSONAL!

The NO MIDDLEMAN ART GALLERY offers that personal experience as the individual has the opportunity to buy the art from the creator and by doing so a new event to remember is born. When you hang the work of art on your wall there is a story behind it; an artist you now know and follow.  And instead of the usual “I purchased this at “WWW(BIG BIG ART STORE).COM”  the connection enriches the emotional value of your art piece.

WHY DISPLAY YOUR ART AT THE NO MIDDLEMAN ART GALLERY?

The gallery is designed to connect the art seekers and collectors with artists directly. We offer artists a COMMISSION FREE / CONTRACT FREE online platform to sell their creations and engage with their clients using portfolio pages that are engaging with large images and a dramatic black background.

NO MIDDLEMAN is a boutique ART GALLERY; individuals browsing our archives and portfolio pages are relaxed, not pressured to sign up, agree with website terms, or maneuvering out of pop-up windows.

Figments From The Real World By Garry Winogrand | Photography Book Recommendation

Written by Joelcy Kay

Editor & Curator of Edge of Humanity Magazine

Curator of NO MIDDLEMAN ART GALLERY

Winogrand: Figments from the Real World

“an exposé of American life in the middle of the last century”

Figments From The Real World is loaded with precise moments such as “Untitled 1950s’ on page 47 and ‘New York, Before 1976” on page 93.

The New Your City shots from the 1950s are timeless; the hats, the dresses, the streets of the city that never sleeps bleeding history through the black and white images.

Intimate portraits from subjects that invites Winogrand’s lenses to be part of the story their faces are telling.  It is close and personal;  I can feel the vibe of the moment.

“World Fair, New York-1964” on page 90;  total classic street photography, depicting society at that time.

The chapter on “Women” showcases elegance, with slim bodies and fitted dresses. My favorite is on page 103, walking down the streets of New York City dressed in white loaded with confidence and she has tiny curlers in her hair.

The Zoo chapter displays family entertainment in the 1960s, literally from the history books.

Figments From The Real World is a collection of daily life images in the US, including celebrities (politicians & entertainers) of that time.  It’s an exposé of American life in the middle of the last century,  time gone forever.

Winogrand died in 1984.

Bruce Gilden | Haiti | Photography Book Recommendation

Bruce Gilden’s Haiti is a very up-close look at the everyday life on the island. The large photographs are raw and in black & White. Life is hard and each photograph tells a story on just how difficult it is in Haiti.  As stated by Ian Thomson in the introduction, “Life is cheap in Haiti.”

Manuel Alvarez Bravo | Photographs and Memories | Photography Book Recommendation

This Aperture published book is a nice selection of Manuel Alvarez Bravo’s black and white daily life artistic photographs that took place in Mexico from the 1920’s though the 1990’s. Every photograph has strong impact and is museum quality. The portraits display raw emotion and I especially like the photo taken during the 1930’s of Frida Kahlo sitting and painting . Two historic top artists! The painter and the photographer taking her photo! (Page 59)  As Paul Stand  states on page 46, ” Manuel Alvarez Bravo’s work is rooted firmly in his love and compassionate understanding of his own country, its people, their problem and their needs.”  I totally agree!

Pete Turner African Journey | Photography Book Recommendation

Outstanding alive color photography that wakes me up when resting in my recliner. 206 pages of intense color images of Africa. Every so often, I love lighting my pipe, reaching for this book, sit back, relax, and slowly flip the pages. Pete Turner understands color and you will not be disappointed with the captivating photos in the book.

The photographs take place starting in 1959 when Pete was on a seven-month safari through Africa and continues on with photographs from 1960,1964, 1969, 1970,1974, 1984, and 1995.At the beginning of the book, there is a map that shows the areas he traveled in 1959. Some of the areas covered in the book include: Transkei region, South Africa, Swaziland, Lake Manyara, Tanganika (Tanzania), Valley of the Kings, Egypt, Ndebele, South Africa, Sossusveli, Namibia, Amboseli, Kenya, Egypt, Krueger Park, South Africa, Victoria Falls, Rhodesia (Zambia), South Africa, Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania, Khartoum, Sudan, Giza, Egypt, and the Nubian Desert, Sudan. The subjects include: animals, portraits, buildings, plants, roads, everyday life of people, environment, landscapes, close-ups of native jewelry, etc. If you love Africa then you will love this book. The text and photographs are by the photographer, book design by Massimo Vignelli, and an introduction by Gordon Parks.
