Enzo Archetti was born in Monticelli Brusati (Brescia) in 1946. He lives in Brescia.
He became interested in art during his high school years, and after graduating from high school, he continued his cultural education by earning a degree in Modern Literature. During the same period, and without interrupting his university studies, he attended drawing and etching courses at the Accademia Carrara in Bergamo for two years, under the direction of Trento Longaretti. His use of color, however, was a personal exploration, as was the fusion of different techniques.
Until 1990, he divided his time between his artistic activity and teaching literature in public schools in the province of Brescia. He is married to Mariarosa, who has inspired many of his works and contributed to strengthening his artistic content.
In 1973, he entered the art scene with his first exhibition in Brescia; In the years immediately following, he exhibited in various Italian cities, including Milan, Verona, Modena, Brindisi, Florence, Rome, and in 1991 in Tokyo at the Galleria Forni.
In the 1990s, his artistic language took shape, defined by the fusion of diverse materials—such as canvas, gauze, carpets, rope, and rusted iron sheets—with figurative elements.
In 2002, he began collaborating with Artequadri, which presented Archetti’s works in Italian and international galleries.
In 2004, he exhibited at the Académie Libanaise in Beirut, and in the same year, one of his works entered the collection of the Modern Art Museum in Kuwait City.
For Archetti, painting is one of the most effective ways to express himself, others, and the world. At the beginning of his artistic career, in the 1970s, he painted reality. Then, until the early 1990s, he engaged with the great artists of the past, particularly Piero della Francesca. He subsequently combined his figurative and informal art, maintaining the female figure with cobalt-blue eyes as the dominant element.
In 2006, he published an artist’s book, “Frammenti d’infinito,” with Serra Tarantola. It is an illustrated narrative featuring 44 paintings that unfolds like a large canvas of over 100 pages in which Archetti attempts to decipher the Infinite.
In 2011, he held a solo exhibition at the Castello East Gallery in Beijing.
In 2012, he published a new book, “E la gente va.” This collection of paintings, alternating with writings and two short stories, depicts humanity traveling toward distant destinations amidst unexpected events, light, and shadow.
In 2013, he published “Signs that Tell Dreams”: a journey into informal art.
In 2015, he began collaborating and exhibiting in Spain, in galleries and public spaces. That same year, he published “Dreams on Paper,” in which paper is intoxicated with art and art helps us…travel.
In 2017, he published “Rain of Infinity”: a collection that allows the mind to rest, to lose itself, to soar.
In 2019, he opened his new studio on Via Veneto in Brescia.
