André was born in 1950 and was raised on a family farm in Sabrevois, county of Iberville, Québec, Canada. His mother, a teacher and an artist, initiated him to painting. He first studied Architecture but completed his university studies in Computer science (Ph.D., McGill University).
André has painted assiduously since the year 2000. From 2007 to 2020, he has participated to numerous painting semesters at the Atelier du geste of Montreal. He has exhibited his work many times. In the last years, André has developed two perspectives. He does enumeration painting, which is reasoned abstraction, where the infinity of objects in the universe is represented through combinatorial scenarios. André also focuses on more figurative painting resulting from his questioning the nature of things (humane and other), which he illustrates in their relationships to one and others. He calls this, ontological painting.
