Catherine Martzloff has been painting for over two decades, with the past fifteen years marking a profound re-commitment to her practice. Drawn to art from an early age, she pursued formal study in college and has remained connected to creative expression throughout her life.
After significant life changes, Catherine returned fully to painting through drawing classes that re-grounded her in the fundamentals of form and composition. Encouraged by a mentor to re-explore painting, she quickly discovered the deep, immersive connection she had felt as a young art student. Painting became a space where time dissolves — a daily practice that offers clarity, presence, and renewal.
Since 2011, Catherine has exhibited her work in juried shows and galleries, developing a consistent studio practice alongside plein-air exploration. Her work has evolved in recent years toward bold color relationships and a more distilled visual language. Vintage objects, patterned surfaces, and simplified forms often appear in her still lifes, creating compositions that balance structure with intuition.
Based in New Jersey, Catherine paints daily and shares her work with collectors across the United States and internationally. Her paintings invite viewers to slow down, notice subtle emotional undercurrents, and experience the expressive power of color.
