Hjördis Thelander

Born in Sweden 1953.

I work as an artist, illustrator, photographer and designer.

My artistic career began very early. When I was about two years old, I did my first mural in pencil above my bed in my parents’ home. My mother, who was an artist herself, wiped it off with a cloth!!

When she finally realized that I wasn’t going to stop drawing and painting on the walls, in books, in magazines and on the floor, she made sure I had a lot of drawing pads and paints so I could express my creative joy in a more controlled way.

I love colors, curves, space and contrasts of light and darkness, soft movements and distinct lines characterizing my art. When I start painting, I never know how the artwork will turn out in the end. I never sketch. I just follow the river of creation until it flows into the great ocean in which I and everyone else get to see what tales the painting wanted to tell us.

During the years I have been participating at a large number of art exhibitions in Sweden and other countries – many of the exhibitions were jury-rated.

I have exhibited at the famous Salon d’Automne in Paris, France for 3 years. 2018, 2021 & 2022.

I have also exhibited in Germany, Monaco, Italy, Denmark, USA, Australia, The Netherlands and Japan.

In a period of more than ten years, I´ve been teaching a large number of art students “The 17 principles of Vedic Art.”

(The teaching is about art and life. Life itself is also an artistic act.)
