Jacques Trichet was born in 1955 in the Vendée, north of the Poitevin marsh.

Coming from a family rooted in the territory, the landscapes of the marsh will be his first source of inspiration and will accompany his practice in the evolution of his painting.

He now works nearby in the small Vendée town of St Martin Lars.

Short studies in biology and the usual passage through school did not satisfy his creative needs. It was after a stay in Mexico in 1978 where he discovered as a revelation the Mayan drawings. On his return to France, he met artists who further inspired his desire to paint and who taught him the necessary techniques.

He enriched his artistic culture through readings, visits to exhibitions and exchanges with other painters where he learned to express, through painting, the poetry which exuded from him.

Three painters held his attention and modestly he is part of the continuity of this trilogy.

Turner for his landscapes that speak to his sole and for his innovative creativity.
Zao Wou Ki for the alliance between the East and the West which he holds dear to his heart.
Rothko for the vibrant energy he receives from his paintings.

Three painters in turn with whom he feels artistically or philosophically close. Between Turner’s figuration, seen in the dazzling of his last paintings and the abstraction of Zao Wou Ki and Rothko, Jacques Trichet’s painting takes shape.

He chose oil painting for the flexibility and the creaminess of the material which allowed him to render both the softness and the violence of life. Added to the pastel in oil for more recreational moments where he finds the magic of the rolling landscapes close to home.

In 2010 he embarked in training in transpersonal psychology associated with psychotherapy and let himself be discovered by a latent spirituality already contained in the landscapes of childhood and heard in the works of his three favorite painters. Meditation, daily yoga and walks in nature, uplift and invigorate his inspiration.

He then refuses to follow the strict passage between figuration and abstraction and lets his brushes draw and paint freely.

Personal and group exhibitions led him to travel to France, Europe and China where he is an honorary member of the Cao Dong Academy, a monastery in the Jiangxi region.
