An engineer turned artist: Lancelot Blondeel main interest is the exploration of reality through the lens of science and philosophy.
The late “Incompleteness” series focuses on what is irreconcilable within ourselves:
Infinite desire in a finite body.
Aspiration to spirituality as opposed to rationality.
Willingness to understand the world in spite of an inherent subjectivity.
Interiority and psyche with regards to the materiality of reality.
Or how our search for Everything collides with the limits of our condition of human beings.
The previous series “Bosons” took a look at the world of particle physics, in particular the Higgs boson, an elementary particle whose existence was theoretically postulated in 1964, but only formally observed at the CERN (the European research organization that operates the largest particle physics laboratory in the world) in 2012 using the most powerful particle accelerator ever built: the LHC (Large Hadron Collider).
Amusing coincidence, Lancelot Blondeel is a perfect homonym (first & last name) of a Flemish painter from the 16th century who also was an engineer and a painter.
