Born in Spanish, Zamora 1960.
Manuel is a self-taught artist, his workshop is in Vigo, Spain.
Since the beginning of his career he has worked in various styles from figuration to abstraction. Since the 90’s he has been working on geometric abstraction in three-dimensional support, looking for the different positions that he can discover from his work.
THE POSITIONS OF THE MOBILE
The possibility of the moving parts that make up the work offers me the discovery of other positions. I find it interesting that an open work can show all the possibilities of interesting positions that I can find. The record of each position is saved in photos, drawings, video, etc. Thus generating a compilation of all the positions that belong to the work.
Whoever owns it can try under his responsibility to discover new positions. The fact that the position can be modified does not mean that it moves and changes randomly, but rather requires a prior effort of imaginative reflection on how the new position can work.
Artist’s Statement
“My creative work focuses on an abstract language of three-dimensional mobile geometric shapes and gives rise to being able to combine with each other inside the support, sometimes they can also be placed outside the support, since the mobile geometric shapes are attached to the support by magnets. This work being three-dimensional I name interactive wall sculpture.”
Manuel has had solo and group exhibitions since 1984 and has participated in art fairs in Spain and the United Kingdom. His works are in collections in Europe, America, the United Arab Emirates.
